Lisa Turay, LPCC (her/she/hers)

Staff Psychotherapist & Practicum Training Coordinator

Biography:

As a psychotherapist, it is a privilege to walk with anyone who courageously seeks help as they navigate through life.  It is a joy to be part of the CAPS team at HSU.  I moved to Humboldt in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the environs. The area allows for many ways to experience the healing properties of nature. Be it walking or hiking in our local forests or biking along one of our coastal trails.  If an activity takes me outside, that’s where I find peace and healing.

Areas of Interest:

As a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), I have access to a number of supports and resources that are beneficial when working with our trans, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary student population.

A recent addition to the CAPS services is our Eco-therapy group.  It has been a joy to be part of the team that developed this program and I am grateful to CAPS and HSU administration for supporting this endeavor.

A third area of focus is participating in the CAPS Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team.  This team is comprised of a group of staff psychologists and psychotherapists who offer individual and skills building workshops, targeting emotional and relational regulation.
